Lifting Techniques for Low Mood

Life can feel heavy at times, and for many this comes with feeling low
Showing yourself some kindness with these simple techniques can help you feel a little lighter, wherever you are.

3 Good Things

Take a moment to notice three things you’re thankful for today
They can be very small
a message from a friend, a warm cup of tea, or even a moment of quiet
 

Compliment yourself

Take a moment to notice something you appreciate about yourself
A kind thought, a skill, or simply that you showed up
 

Listen to Some Music

Take a moment to listen to some music.
Pick a song you enjoy or love, and simply listen, no need to do anything else


A Creative Minute

Take a moment to do something creative
Try some colouring, doodling, crocheting, or anything else you might enjoy
Move

Take a moment to move
Go for a walk, dance in the kitchen, or maybe have a long stretch

A Safe Space

Take a moment to imagine yourself in a safe space
The beach, your favourite chair in the living room, the forest, or anywhere you feel safe

A Bath or Shower

Take a bath or shower with your favourite scent
Use this moment to relax and enjoy your favourite shower gel, shampoo, or body wash


Go Outside

Take a moment to step outside
Step outside for a few minutes, or go for a walk, and take a moment to feel the air on your skin

An Act of Kindness

Take a moment for a small act of kindness
Feed the birds, a kind message to a friend, or a smile

Connect

Take a moment to reach out to someone
A call, a message, or simply a hello

Small moments like these can help you feel a little lighter, one breath at a time.
